ThinkChina
about.
This project is the next phase of ThinkChina’s platform enhancement following the November 2024 upgrade. The initiative focuses on improving both editorial workflow and reader experience by modernising the website’s visual design, strengthening video content presentation, and introducing new engagement-driven features across key pages.

challenge.
The existing frontend design felt visually rigid and overly formal, with limited interactivity and outdated UI patterns.
Video content lacked a dedicated presentation layer, making it difficult to effectively surface ThinkChina’s growing multimedia content.
Existing page structures did not support engagement-focused experiences such as infinite scrolling, inline audio playback, and dynamic content recommendations.
Maintaining responsive behaviour and performance while introducing richer frontend interactions and multimedia integrations posed additional complexity.
Ensuring design consistency across homepage, article pages, and category pages while implementing new UI components and hover interactions.
solution.
Developed a dedicated video carousel interface with YouTube integration to provide a more immersive and accessible multimedia browsing experience.
Refreshed the frontend UI with softer color palettes, rounded card components, improved spacing, and interactive hover states to modernise the overall look and feel.
Implemented frontend features such as audio playback controls, infinite scrolling, and content recommendation modules to improve user engagement and session duration.
Enhanced responsive layouts and reusable UI components to ensure consistency and scalability across different pages and devices.
Optimised frontend interactions and rendering behaviour to maintain smooth performance while supporting richer dynamic content experiences.
